On Thursday afternoon, I was sitting at work, when all of a sudden, Zane was calling me on my cell. Not that it's terribly uncommon for him to do that, but normally he'll just send a text if he needs to get in touch with me. So kinda curious about why he was calling (especially since I already knew that he was studying in the library) I answered his call. He asked if I was busy, I said no. Then he said, "do you have anything going on at 5:15 this afternoon?" The answer was also no. He then replied that was good, since we'd have to meet with a member of the Stake Presidency at that time. WHOA. WAIT. WHO?! WHY?! We each had an idea as to why he wanted to see both of us, but obviously we were still not entirely sure. All I know is that it was a good thing the appointment wasn't even later. Because I really don't know if I could have lasted till 7:00 or later without knowing for sure what was going on.
Well, needless to say, netiher of us could concentrate on much of anything else the rest of the afternoon. Then 5:15 rolled around and we were pulling up to the Stake Center. He met with Zane first, then what seemed only 30 seconds later, called me into the office to join them.
He said, "I have a calling for your husband. Will you support him in it, even without knowing what it is?"
"Uhh, yes :)"
"Good, because we've called him to be the First Counselor in the Laramie River Singles Ward Bishopric."
At this point, I wasn't sure if I wanted to laugh or cry more. I decided to just sit, listen, and try not to do etiher. Zane accepted his calling, and I accepted the instructions given to me to attend the singles ward with him, rather than the famliy ward where are records will still remain. All of a sudden, it hit me- no more Primary music time! And just when I was getting the hang of it! But to be honest, I thought "I'd rather just stay there in Primary than deal with the drama that 18-year-old, marriage obsessed single girls could create." However, I quickly mended my way of thinking and became excited, though a little overwhelmed, at the prospect of what now lay before us.
So Zane's folks braved the high winds on I-80 and came down on Saturday evening to show their support. Sunday morning dawned and we went to the Institue building for church service and Zane's sustaining and setting apart. Overall, it was a good meeting, there were a few familiar faces, and so far, we like the ward in general. Zane has replaced our friend Tyler Garnder in the bishopric, and I think Tyler was there for about 18 months, so it looks like we'll at least be in the same ward for over a year! What a concept ;)
Well, I guess that's about it for this update! Wish us luck in our new adventure!
Super cool! Sounds like an adventure, I'm sure he'll be great, and you'll both have fun!
