Stake Women's Conference

A couple of months ago, a member of the Stake Relief Society Presidency asked me to be the decorations committee chair for the Stake Women's Conference... All I can say is it was quite the learning experience. From learning how to delegate, budget wisely, and how to communicate with committee members, it was a growing experience for sure. And after spending several hours at the Stake Center on Thursday and Friday nights (we're talking till 10:30 both nights) and then being up there from early Saturday morning till about 2pm, I'm incredibly relieved it's finally over. I had asked several of the girls I know to be on the committee, and they were all great help, but I really don't think I could have done it without my friend Kassidy, who basically was my "right hand man" through it all! Thanks Kas! Sooo....below are some pictures from beginning to end to give you an idea of how it all came together. Enjoy!

The blank slate

This was on Friday evening- all of the centerpieces are done and tables are set. (You'll notice the black table in the back- it's incomplete still... needing balloons and cupcakes!)

Kassidy and I at 10:30 on Friday night... We were the first and last of the committee to be at the Stake Center... everyone else (other than our wonderful husbands) were gone by this point... But we did have some awesome help from everyone! I took a picture of Rachel, Kassidy, and Reigan on Thursday night, but they didn't seem too thrilled with it, so I left it off the blog... (ladies, if you change your mind, I'll gladly put it up!) ;)

The tables by the cultural hall entrances- the theme of the conference is based on a quote by 

James E. Talmage (you can see it in the close up of the poster) It says: "The world's greatest champion of woman and womanhood is Jesus the Christ."

And now for some of my favorite pictures... the cupcakes!

We were both exhausted, so not our best picture...

We made the white cake stand that has the silver bottom (it's a candlestick from Salvation Army!) but the taller clear glass one to its right is an antique! It's from a turn-of-the-century bakery and is over 100 years old! It has a sister on the other side of the table and they (along with about 10 other cake stands) were loaned to us...

We made this cake stand using 2 glass plates, small glass stemware, and hot glue! Once again, Thank you Pinterest!

So that's about it! My hometeacher is a baker and owns a baker's dozen (literally) of cake stands, so he was a HUGE help. He loaned us most the cake stands on the table, although a few of them were mine, and about 5 of them we made. He also helped us frost them on Saturday morning before the conference began, SO...thank you Keefe! And thank you to all the lovely ladies (and patient, supportive husbands) who helped make this all a success! :)
